Fluffy Waffles
If you’re reading this, you may have seen a videos of me in my stories over the past year or so, making these waffles using my Melitta Cremio (UK) milk frother. So I thought I’d post the waffle recipe I use here for you! The recipe calls for warm milk, and most of the time I would either heat it in a saucepan or the microwave, but I’ve found that using warmed, foamy milk gives the waffle mixture a lightness that I REALLY like. So I started using my Melitta cremio because it’s much handier than using a saucepan or microwave! It’s honestly one of the best kitchen milk-frothers I’ve ever used. It’s so easy to use, and clean. Plus I only need to press a button and it heats the milk to the perfect drinking temperature as well as foams it. It’s much better than one of those handheld whisks. Of course you don’t need to froth the milk, but trust me, you’ll see the difference in the waffle mixture, and it’s so convenient there’s no reason not to!
I made these a lot for my nieces during lockdown as weekend treats for doing well in homeschool. They even helped me make them which was super fun. I hope you enjoy the process as well as the eating!
I’m always looking for good pancake and waffle recipes and I actually found this recipe on I wash you dry and fell in love with it when I tried it. It’s also really easy to halve if you want to just make a couple of them for yourself or if you have extra, you can freeze them in bags for treats before work/school (I have done this).
Approx 5 minutes to prep and 10 min to cook!
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1.5 tbsp sugar *(lower the sugar to zero or 1 tsp if you are having savoury waffles)
4 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
85g butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
Preheat waffle iron.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt - mix with a whisk to combine.
In a separate small bowl whisk the eggs and stir in the warm milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk until blended.
Scoop the batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp. Serve immediately or lay on a cooling rack until cool. Store in zip close bags in freezer.*
